PROS & CONS

What I like:

  • Fast evaluation process with just 1 single step.
  • Your first $25,000 are paid with no profit split. 100% of the profits go to you.
  • Trading during news has no restrictions.
  • The system doesn't let you exceed your maximum position size by mistake, which can cost you your acccount on other firms.
  • You can request up to two payouts every month.

What could be improved:

  • Holding trades overnight is not allowed. You can trade for 23 hours per day though.
  • Except for the Static account, the trailing threshold updates considering open positions but this can be easily monitored with the software they provide.

In this article, you’ll get a review of this prop firm, including analysis and instructions to get funded with an account from Apex Trader Funding.

Here’s what you’re going to learn:

What Is Apex Trader Funding

Apex Trader Funding is a futures prop firm located in the USA, more specifically in Austin, Texas.

Its roots come from Apex Investing, an investing website created by Darrell Martin 10 years before Apex Trader Funding was founded.

Since 2021 this firm has been here funding traders from all over the world and shows no signs that’s going to stop.

With multiple awards gained since its inception, this firm is one of the big references in the Futures Prop Trading world.

What Can You Trade With Apex Trader Funding?

Apex Trader Funding is a prop firm that funds traders to trade Futures. Basically, almost everything is available for their funded traders. No matter what your favorite market is, you’ll pretty much find it on the Apex Instruments list.

Here’s a full review of the instruments list that you can trade with Apex:

  • Equity Futures: Here you have the Mini S&P500, Mini Nasdaq, and Mini Dow just to mention a few.
  • Foreign Exchange Futures: All the major world currencies are available for you to trade if that’s your thing. The Australian dollar, British pound, Canadian dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, and New Zealand dollar.
  • Agricultural Futures: For all the lovers of this type of commodity you can trade Cattle, Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, and more.
  • Energy Futures: Energies are always a good option for someone looking for volatility. With Apex you can trade Crude Oil, Natural Gas, and even Heating Oil.
  • Metal Futures: Some of them are frequently used as a store of value, but hey, they are good to trade too. Gold, silver, copper, platinum, and palladium can be traded on your funded account.
  • Cryptocurrency Futures: For the crypto and volatility lovers, Micro Bitcoin and Micro Ethereum are at your disposal to trade.
  • Micro Futures: If your account is not big, you can trade Micro futures with a much smaller point value that will let you manage your risk more appropriately.
  • EUREX Instruments: If you are into the European market, Apex has you covered too. Some nice European indices are available to trade, including the popular Dax from Germany.
  • ICE Exchange: The same instruments can be traded in different exchanges. If the ICE exchange is your preferred, you can select their instruments, instead of the previous ones from CME, CBOT, NYMEX, and COMEX.

What Are The Apex Trader Funding Account Sizes?

Apex Trader Funding has different account sizes and two types of evaluations that you can choose from.

The account balances vary between $25,000 and $300,000. The price for the evaluation is between $147/month for the smaller account and $657/month for the bigger one.

With Apex Trader Funding you can trade up to 20 accounts at the same time.

The good thing about them is that they frequently have big discounts. Get your discount coupon below in this article.

What Is The Apex Trader Funding Leverage?

There’s no leverage, the trading account balance is the buying power, meaning the leverage is 1:1.

Instead, your limits are defined by the maximum number of contracts you can trade. It starts at 4 contracts (or 40 micros), for the $25,000 account, and goes up to 35 contracts (or 350 micros) for the $300,000 account. More about this later in this article.

A good thing is that their system automatically caps the maximum number of contracts that you can use to trade. This way you’ll never risk exceeding your maximum exposure, which can count as a rule violation when you trade with other firms.

How Much Is The Apex Trader Funding Payout?

The Apex Trader Funding shares the profits with the trader starting at a 100% profit split for the first $25,000 in profits. You can request up to two payouts per month which is good.

Of course, you can’t get that 100% profit split benefit for life, although it would be great. After that, the profit split adjusts to 90/10. You get 90% of all the profits you make and the prop firm keeps 10% for them. Looks like a fair deal to me.

Apex Trader Funding Reviews

According to Trustpilot, Apex Trader Funding is classified as excellent. It’s scoring 4.8/5.0 after 2,000+ reviews of the prop firm.

Evaluation Rules and Goals

There are two types of accounts in the Evaluation process: the Full accounts and the Static account. Both types have these rules in common:

  • Minimum days to trade: 7 days.
  • Challenge duration: There’s no maximum time to trade, you can take the time that you want.
  • Number of steps: Just one! Your only job is to hit a profit goal while keeping your equity from breeching the maximum drawdown.

Besides that, the Full accounts have a profit goal to achieve, a maximum number of contracts that you can trade, and a trailing threshold to respect.

Here’s a table with a resume of the rules for the Full accounts:

BalanceContractsProfit goalTrailing Threshold
$25,0004 (40 micros)$1,500$1,500
$50,00010 (100 micros)$3,000$2,500
$75,00012 (120 micros)$4,250$2,750
$100,00014 (140 micros)$6,000$3,000
$150,00017 (170 micros)$9,000$5,000
$250,00027 (270 micros)$15,000$6,500
$300,00035 (350 micros)$20,000$7,500

For the Static account, there’s only one account balance available. Instead of a trailing threshold, you have a maximum drawdown to respect. Here’s the resume of the rules for the Static account:

BalanceContractsProfit goalMax Drawdown
$100,0002 (20 micros)$2,000$625
