Here’s what you’re going to learn:
Apex Trader Funding is a futures prop firm located in the USA, more specifically in Austin, Texas.
Its roots come from Apex Investing, an investing website created by Darrell Martin 10 years before Apex Trader Funding was founded.
Since 2021 this firm has been here funding traders from all over the world and shows no signs that’s going to stop.
With multiple awards gained since its inception, this firm is one of the big references in the Futures Prop Trading world.
Apex Trader Funding is a prop firm that funds traders to trade Futures. Basically, almost everything is available for their funded traders. No matter what your favorite market is, you’ll pretty much find it on the Apex Instruments list.
Here’s a full review of the instruments list that you can trade with Apex:
Apex Trader Funding has different account sizes and two types of evaluations that you can choose from.
The account balances vary between $25,000 and $300,000. The price for the evaluation is between $147/month for the smaller account and $657/month for the bigger one.
With Apex Trader Funding you can trade up to 20 accounts at the same time.
The good thing about them is that they frequently have big discounts. Get your discount coupon below in this article.
There’s no leverage, the trading account balance is the buying power, meaning the leverage is 1:1.
Instead, your limits are defined by the maximum number of contracts you can trade. It starts at 4 contracts (or 40 micros), for the $25,000 account, and goes up to 35 contracts (or 350 micros) for the $300,000 account. More about this later in this article.
A good thing is that their system automatically caps the maximum number of contracts that you can use to trade. This way you’ll never risk exceeding your maximum exposure, which can count as a rule violation when you trade with other firms.
The Apex Trader Funding shares the profits with the trader starting at a 100% profit split for the first $25,000 in profits. You can request up to two payouts per month which is good.
Of course, you can’t get that 100% profit split benefit for life, although it would be great. After that, the profit split adjusts to 90/10. You get 90% of all the profits you make and the prop firm keeps 10% for them. Looks like a fair deal to me.
According to Trustpilot, Apex Trader Funding is classified as excellent. It’s scoring 4.8/5.0 after 2,000+ reviews of the prop firm.
There are two types of accounts in the Evaluation process: the Full accounts and the Static account. Both types have these rules in common:
Besides that, the Full accounts have a profit goal to achieve, a maximum number of contracts that you can trade, and a trailing threshold to respect.
Here’s a table with a resume of the rules for the Full accounts:
Balance | Contracts | Profit goal | Trailing Threshold |
---|---|---|---|
$25,000 | 4 (40 micros) | $1,500 | $1,500 |
$50,000 | 10 (100 micros) | $3,000 | $2,500 |
$75,000 | 12 (120 micros) | $4,250 | $2,750 |
$100,000 | 14 (140 micros) | $6,000 | $3,000 |
$150,000 | 17 (170 micros) | $9,000 | $5,000 |
$250,000 | 27 (270 micros) | $15,000 | $6,500 |
$300,000 | 35 (350 micros) | $20,000 | $7,500 |
For the Static account, there’s only one account balance available. Instead of a trailing threshold, you have a maximum drawdown to respect. Here’s the resume of the rules for the Static account:
Balance | Contracts | Profit goal | Max Drawdown |
---|---|---|---|
$100,000 | 2 (20 micros) | $2,000 | $625 |

Besides that, Apex Trader Funding supports the most popular futures trading platforms:
Holding trades after the close of the day is not permitted. All trades must be closed and pending orders canceled before 4:59 PM ET.
When trading on a half-day holiday, the trades must be closed before the close of the market, regardless of the time.
Leaving positions open for the weekend is also not allowed.
Apex Trader Funding is aligned with day traders and day trading strategies. If you have a different trading style, you may want to check an alternative (more below in this article).
If you like to trade news using directional or multidirectional news trades, then this is not a good prop firm for you.
News trading is not allowed in any form, including straddling, or entering right before or right after the news.
You don’t need to close your trades when there’s news though. If you have any normal trade running you can keep it open during the news release. You just need to be careful and have good risk management. Learn how to calculate your maximum lot size wisely.
